Distracted Driver Responsible For Crash That Killed One And Injured Five

A distracted driver was responsible for a two-vehicle collision in Henry County, Indiana, last night that left one person dead and five others injured. According to WISHTV 8 News, the accident occurred at the intersection of County Road 400 West and State Road 234.

Henry County Sheriff’s Department deputies indicated that the driver of a pickup truck was heading north when he failed to stop at an intersection. The truck ran the stop sign and collided with another car carrying a woman and her two young sons.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, while his two passengers suffered severe injuries and had to be airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital. One later died. The female who was driving the other vehicle was also transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for a head injury, while her two sons were taken to a nearby children’s hospital.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that distracted driving is attributed to a large number of serious accidents, mainly due to cell phone use. Investigators say they will continue to look into what factors may have been distracting the driver at the time of the crash.

The Indianapolis Personal Injury Lawyers with Stewart and Stewart Injury Lawyers ask that all motorists do their part to help reduce Indiana Auto Accidents by putting all handheld electronics down while driving.
